We are a living history and live steel performance group. Brotherhood of Steel, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) who raise money for various causes. Our group sets up an encampment inspired by 13th to 18th century society we and puts on shows for charity at Renaissance faires across the Midwest.
With over 1000 square feet of living history, we invite you to experience how the Duke and Duchess traveled their land. They campaigned with an entourage of soldiers, entertainment, laborers, and anyone else they might need while hundreds of miles away from home. When they arrived at their destination they unpacked everything, set up a big tent, similar to ours, and stayed there until business was done.
When you visit our encampment, you may find us in the middle of sword practice, relaxing with games (that you can join too), and even eating lunch prepared by our cooks. Come visit our Great Hall and other tents to hear tales from our story tellers, learn about the day to day life of the Duke’s court, and meet the heroes and villains of our performances.
Our show is a live steel, un-choreographed, improvised, sword fighting performance. We featuring weapons from all over Europe and the middle east; you can see a variety of weapons ranging from short swords all the way to more exotic weapons. Watch our heroes battle our villains! Who will you root for? After the show come meet our fighters, see our weapons and armor up close, and we will even show you how to sword fight, just like us.
We have a very unique experience for our audience. Our shows are completely non-choreographed. This means we rely on our sword fighting training and improvisational skills to put on an amazing show for our audience. Since our performances are not staged, you won’t find an experience like this anywhere else. Our audience gets to enjoy the show at the same time we do! Of course, no show is complete without audience participation. We also allow our audience the chance to train with swords just like us! Well, almost just like us. We won’t give you a 5 pounds piece of steel, but we will train you with the swords we train with. You get to leave our show being able to do our basic training drills and much more.
